Technical, Business and Design Specialist
What I Do:
I am a Technical Sales Consultant for Schletter UK Limited specialising in the design and implementation of small and large scale solar PV systems for roof and ground mounted installations as well as solar carports.
I have worked in a technical, customer facing role since my apprenticeship and have relocated from Germany to the UK in 2007. I am very much a technologist and have a vast portfolio of skills, ranging from CAD design over management, presentation, communication, economics, to problem solving, fault finding, organising and training.
A brush of my past:
Technical Sales Consultant @ Schletter UK 2014 - present
A challenging and diverse role selling, designing and implementing small and large scale solar PV projects. Amongst roof and ground mounted systems, Schletter also manufacturers Solar PV Carports. Schletter is a marked leader with a global presence. The best part is the customer contact and being able to provide enabling solutions for small and large businesses alike.
Service Manager @ Waldner UK 2007 - 2014
Waldner is a market leading manufacturer of laboratory furniture, fume cupboards, and innovative air handling controls solutions. As service manager for their UK branch, I built up a successful commissioning and maintenance department ensuring operational safety of all deployed systems by means of annual preventative maintenance, service and repairs as well as specialised compliance testing (BS EN14175 containment testing). The design and installation of smart and innovative laboratory controls solutions was a major part of my work which lead to the development of new ground breaking products for user interactive building controls. I introduced an apprenticeship program to further strengthen our team and to provide young people with an opportunity to become a successful professional in a specialised field.
Service Engineer @ TDC Chemnitz on behalf of Waldner GmbH 2001 - 2007
In this role, which almost immediately followed my apprenticeship, I managed to gain valuable experience in many different fields. Not only did I carry out regular maintenance on laboratory equipment and air handling systems, I also undertook installation and commissioning of such systems across Europe as well as China, India and Iceland. A challenging and diverse role with great responsibility and sense of achievement.
Apprentice Electrician @ Elektro Hauler 1997 - 2001
After I finished school at the age of 16, I started an apprenticeship to become an Electrician at a small, local firm. The decision, not to go to university but to take advantage of the excellent dual apprenticeship setup in Germany was the best decision I could have made at the time. Not only did I learn on the job and earn some money, I also attended college and gained a lot of knowledge about design principals, working practices, communication, economics, working with others and much more. The education provided by the Handwerkskammer Chemnitz and Industrieschule Chemnitz as part of the apprenticeship was excellent and equipped me with valuable tools and knowledge for my later career.
Other things I do:
In my spare time I like to keep busy. I am a keen cyclist who has substituted his car for a bike in 2015 and can now be seen commuting to and from work in all weathers. After all, it's good for the environment and health of course.
I am interested in East German History, play different instruments and are currently working towards a volunteering role in public service. I am also looking to continue with distance learning around family life.
How to get in touch:
My Key Achievements:
Successfully delivering complex projects in challenging markets such as China and India.
Being hands-on and working on location managing local contractors, I worked with clients such as Bayer, Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Merck amongst other leading names in the industry.
Relocating to the UK and building up a successful service department from scratch.
A major, life changing decision for any young person but the right thing to do if you want to move forward. Staying with the same firm, I picked up from where I left off and managed to transfer the company's strategies and values to the UK market. Stating as a small team, we soon found ourselves in a professional and busy setup and could even give young people the opportunity to become a successful industry professional by introducing a dual apprenticeship scheme into our line of business.
Changing industries and developing myself to become an industry expert in a diverse market.
Joining a market leading manufacturer and supplier of Solar PV mounting systems, I had to learn fast and think quick. Being a completely different industry to my previous work it was daunting but rewarding to develop myself into an industry expert. Resilience and determination fuelled by ambition and motivation.
